Mumbai: The travel community was dealt a blow by tragedy as 27-year-old influencer Aanvi Kamdar met her death after falling one of the 300 ft Kumbhe Waterfall gorges in Raigad District of Maharashtra on July 16, 2024. She had 7 friends with her and They were all headed for a monsoon outing together that day.
Kamdar was shooting an Instagram reel when she slipped from the rock. Her friends made an immediate call for help and search and rescue operations including efforts by the Coast Guard and the Kolad rescue team are now underway. Meanwhile, fixers from the Maharashtra State Electricity Board are hurrying to make sure that power is down at the site. There are also local police or officials on site supporting these efforts through guiding people away from potential danger areas and so forth.
Rescuers took on difficult challenges such as falling stones and rain. But in the end,Aanvi Kamdar died from her injuries at the Mangaon taluka government hospital.
This tragedy underscores the unfortunate consequences of creating social media content in areas that are hazardous. Authorities have reminded tourists to put safety first, especially during the rainy season when conditions can change quick and even without warning.
