“Siddaramaiah Heading to Delhi on Tuesday to Discuss MLC Poll Candidates”
Karnataka’s Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, is scheduled to fly to New Delhi on Tuesday to deliberate on candidate nominations for the upcoming biennial election of 11 Legislative Council seats. These elections, held on June 13, will be decided by the Members of the Legislative Assembly, in consultation with the Congress high command.
The Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President, DK Shivakumar, is also expected to participate in these discussions, as reported by PTI.
According to Siddaramaiah’s travel schedule shared with the media, he will depart for New Delhi on a special flight at approximately 11 am on Tuesday. After arriving in the afternoon, he has planned meetings with AICC members.
Siddaramaiah will remain in Delhi with an open-ended return schedule.
Based on the current strength of parties in the Assembly, Congress has the potential to win seven seats, BJP three, and JD(S) one.
The process for filing nominations has already started and will continue until June 3.
“Cyclone Remal: NFR Cancels 44 Trains on Monday and Tuesday”
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), which operates in the northeastern states, seven districts in West Bengal, and five districts in northern Bihar, cancelled 44 trains on Monday and Tuesday due to the cyclonic storm “Remal.”
According to an IANS report, Chief Public Relations Officer Sabyasachi De stated that, as a safety measure, 44 trains scheduled to depart on these days were cancelled.
The majority of the impacted trains are passenger services, such as DEMUs and express trains.
The cancelled trains were intended to connect Malda, Siliguri, Alipurduar Junction, New Jalpaiguri (West Bengal), Jogbani (Bihar), Guwahati, Silchar (Assam), Bhairabi (Mizoram), and Agartala and Sabroom (Tripura).
In addition, India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director General Mrutunjay Mohapatra mentioned in New Delhi that the “Remal” is heading towards Assam and Meghalaya. According to the weather office, it was moving in a north-northeast direction and gradually weakening into a deep depression, with light to moderate rainfall recorded in most northeastern states.
