Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Bishkek is stable and under control, countering false reports of turmoil in international media, especially from Pakistan. The Ministry emphasized that all necessary precautions are in place to ensure the city’s security and tranquility. In their statement, the Ministry noted, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic informs that destructive forces are deliberately disseminating untrue and false information about the situation in the Kyrgyz Republic in foreign mass media and social networks, especially in the territory of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.”

“The atmosphere in Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic, remains peaceful and fully managed, with all essential steps implemented to guarantee safety, uphold tranquility, and sustain stability,” it stated.

The Ministry encouraged media organizations and bloggers to use only official and authenticated information from reliable authorities in Kyrgyzstan. Highlighting the need for responsible journalism, they stressed the importance of sharing precise information to avoid the propagation of false news.

India, Pakistan Issue Advisory To Students Over Mob Violence In Bishkek

In a Facebook update, the Pakistan Embassy reported that some hostels of medical universities in Bishkek, along with private residences of international students from India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, have been targeted.

The Indian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan advised Indian students to remain inside and stay in touch with the embassy for support if necessary. A helpline number was also provided for the students’ ease.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed that the well-being of Indian students in Bishkek is under constant observation and encouraged them to maintain communication with the embassy. “We are keeping an eye on the welfare of Indian students in Bishkek. The situation is reportedly stable at the moment. Strongly recommend students to remain in regular contact with the Embassy,” he stressed.

The Pakistani embassy in Kyrgyzstan also confirmed incidents of mob violence and urged students to stay indoors for their safety.

“The Pakistan embassy reported that since last evening, there have been multiple instances of mob attacks targeting foreign students in Bishkek. The situation worsened after videos showing confrontations between local and international students began to spread.”

Reports revealed that the violence targeted hospitals connected to medical universities in Bishkek and the private accommodations of international students. The Pakistan embassy noted that the assaults appeared to be aimed at all foreign students, not solely those from Pakistan.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed worry about the circumstances and instructed the Pakistani Ambassador to offer essential support to the affected students. “Deeply concerned over the situation of Pakistani students in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. I have directed Pakistan’s Ambassador to provide all necessary help and assistance,” he said, as reported by news agency ANI.

Reacting to the events, Mumtaz Baloch, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, announced that a formal protest had been delivered to Kyrgyzstan, requesting the protection of Pakistani nationals living there.

“Following directives from DPM @MIshaqDar50, a formal protest has been lodged with the Kyrgyz Republic. They have been urged to implement all necessary actions to guarantee the safety and protection of Pakistani students and residents in the Kyrgyz Republic,” Mumtaz Baloch noted, according to ANI.
