“Jaishankar Affirms India’s Support for Palestinian Homeland: ‘We Are Public About That’

On Wednesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed India’s unwavering support for the establishment of a homeland for the Palestinians. He emphasized that India has been vocal and transparent about its stance on this matter.

During a speech at Gargi College on Vishwa Bandhu Bharat, Jaishankar discussed the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the Israel-Palestine issue. He highlighted the complexity of the situation, involving Israel, the Palestinians, various Arab countries, Gulf monarchies, and Iran. Jaishankar mentioned recent hostilities between Iran and Israel, noting that they had exchanged fire a few days prior. The situation is tense and intricate, with multiple stakeholders involved in the conflict.

Jaishankar mentioned that when Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7th of the previous year, India adopted a definitive position by condemning it as an act of terrorism. Nonetheless, he emphasized the importance of safeguarding civilian lives and emphasized the necessity of establishing a humanitarian corridor during times of war.

We expressed absolute clarity when the terrorists launched an attack on Israel on October 7th, categorizing it as an act of terrorism. Our stance on this matter was resolute. Furthermore, when Israel retaliated, we emphasized the significance of safeguarding civilian lives during any military response. It is crucial to establish a humanitarian corridor for displaced civilians, ensuring their safety and well-being outside of their homes,” emphasized Jaishankar.

“On the instructions of the Prime Minister, I personally reached out to the two foreign ministers and conveyed a clear message. The entire region is filled with concern, and we strongly urge you not to proceed with this course of action. Additionally, it is important to note that our stance on the Middle East remains consistent – we support the establishment of a Palestinian homeland, and we have been vocal about this stance.” These were the words of Jaishankar, who emphasized the significance of addressing these issues while highlighting our commitment to the cause.

During a gathering with the Indian community in Malaysia in March, Jaishankar expressed his belief that the Palestinians have been unjustly deprived of their homeland.

During a visit to Malaysia, he expressed that regardless of the debate surrounding the issue, it is undeniable that the Palestinians’ rights and their right to a homeland have been unjustly denied.
