Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was detained by Bangalore police on June 11 from Mysuru in relation to a murder case, as per HT Kannada. The South Indian actor’s arrest is due to his suspected involvement in the Renukaswamy murder case, and he is currently being transported to Bangalore.
Renukaswamy is accused of posting offensive material on social media about Pavitra Gowda and recommended an initial police inquiry. The police began probing the matter after discovering Renukaswamy’s lifeless body near Sumannahalli Bridge in Bengaluru, as reported by Asianet.
So far, ten individuals have been detained in connection to the case. Police officials are expected to provide further details during an upcoming press conference, according to an Asianet.
A 47-year-old individual was arrested from a in Mysuru in relation to the murder of Renukaswamy.
Renukaswamy murder case
Renukaswamy, a native of Chitradurga, was reportedly killed due to his online harassment of Pavithra Gowda, who is a close associate of Kannada actor Darshan. Renukaswamy was summoned to a Mysuru farmhouse owned by Darshan.
According to The Hindu, citing police sources, the accused allegedly tortured Renukaswamy for several hours before killing him and disposing of his body in a drain Bengaluru’s Kamakshipalya area two months prior. The police discovered the body on June 9 and initiated an investigation.
Following Darshan Thoogudeepaโs arrest, police have stationed personnel near his residence in Bengaluru. The Indian Express reported that three individuals arrested during the initial investigation confessed to killing Renukaswamy over financial disputes.
