My heart pains at the harassment of women at the Raj Bhavan; the governor has no right to speak about the state’s women: Mamata Banerjee.

On May 2, a female employee of the Raj Bhavan filed a complaint with the police accusing West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose of sexual harassment.

Just a day after allegations of harassment against Governor CV Anand Bose surfaced by a female employee of the West Bengal Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her distress, saying that her heart aches for the woman who faced harassment, emphasizing that the governor has no authority to speak about the state’s women.

Addressing a rally in Purba Bardhaman ahead of the elections, the Chief Minister stated that before the BJP speaks about the allegations of sexual harassment, they should answer why the governor behaved in such a manner with a woman working at the Raj Bhavan.

Banerjee also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise to support ‘honest candidates’ who lost their jobs in the SSC scam, asserting that it was the BJP that caused the loss of these jobs.

She further added “I now have information that is very important. I have received information, friends, that a more sinister conspiracy has been hatched at the Raj Bhavan. We know the responsible characters for this. Be cautious,” Bose said on Friday.

“I won’t be surprised if I am held responsible for the Bengal famine of 1943 or the infamous Calcutta killings of 1946. It’s the nature of political forces working in the state. Please hold me accountable for it. I haven’t come to Bengal for comfort and leisure. I haven’t come to stroll on flat ground in Bengal,” Bose said. “I know Bengal is tough work. I am climbing mountains. People’s love inspires and drives me.”
