New Delhi: India’s Home Minister Amit Shah has labeled Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s address as “unpleasant and objectionable,” referring to Kharge’s statement about living until Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ousted from office.
In a social media post on X, Shah stated that Kharge’s comments reveal the Congress’s “animosity and apprehension” regarding Prime Minister Modi.
Yesterday, the Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji has outperformed himself, his leaders and his party in being absolutely distasteful and disgraceful in his speech.

“On the previous day, Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji outdid himself, his colleagues, and his party in delivering a speech that was utterly unpleasant and objectionable.
In a display of ill will, he needlessly involved PM Modi in his personal health matters by stating that he would only pass away after removing PM Modi from his position,” Shah commented.
“This simply illustrates the extent of dislike and fear these Congress members harbor towards PM Modi, as they constantly think about him. Regarding Mr. Kharge Ji’s health, Modi Ji, myself, and all of us wish for his long and healthy life. We hope he continues to live for many years and witnesses the development of a prosperous India by 2047,” the Home Minister added in his post.
Kharge experienced a fainting spell while speaking at a political gathering in Jasrota, Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress leader later resumed his speech. “I am 83 years old. I do not intend to pass away so soon. I will remain alive until (Prime Minister) Modi is removed from office. I will hear you out. I will advocate for you. I wanted to continue speaking. However, due to dizziness, I have taken a seat. Please excuse me.”

On X, Kharge’s son and Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge reported that his father is doing well. “Congress President Sri @kharge felt slightly unwell during a public address in Jasrota, Jammu & Kashmir. His medical team has examined him, and aside from slightly low blood pressure, he is in good health. We are very appreciative of everyone’s concern. His determination, along with people’s good wishes, keeps him going strong,” Priyank Kharge posted.
Prime Minister Modi subsequently contacted Mr. Kharge via telephone to inquire about his health condition.
